The IASP renews its Board of Directors

A new IASP Board has been elected at the General Assembly of our association, held in Johannesburg on 16th September 2008. Mr. Joan Bellavista (Parc Científic de Barcelona, Spain ) has been appointed as the new IASP President replacing Prof. Chachanat Thebtaranonth, who has held the position for the last two years. Together with Joan Bellavista we have Mr. Mauricio Guedes (Parque Tecnológico do Rio in Brazil ) as the new IASP Vice-President and our new Treasurer Ms. Sue Bell (La Trobe Research & Development Park, Australia) who replaces Mr. Esteban Cassin from Argentina. In addition to our Executive Board, our International Board of Directors has the following new Directors: Dr. Hamad Al Hashemi (TechnoPark, UAE), Mr. Martti Launonen (Technopolis Ltd., Finland ), Dr. David Rowe, (University of Warwick Science Park, UK) and Mr. Liu Ying Li, ( Shenzhen High-Tech Industrial Park, China). Three new IASP Regional Division Presidents have also joined the Board: Mr. Tsietsi Maleho, from The Innovation Hub in South Africa is the IASP President of the newly created African Division. Mr. Sten Gunnar Johansson, from Mjärdevi Science Park in Sweden is the President of the European Division and Mr. Majid Mottaghitalab, from Guilan Science and Technology Park in Iran is the President of the West Asian Division. Still with us, and yet to complete their term on the Board, we have Mr. Herbert Chen (Tsinghua Science Park, China) as President of the Asia-Pacific Division; Mr. Gregorio Paluszny (Parque Tecnológico Sartenejas, Venezuela) as President of the IASP Latin American Division and Mr. Rick Weddle (The Research Triangle Park of North Carolina, USA) as President of our North American Division. We thank the outgoing Board Members of the IASP for their dedication and congratulate our new Board Members on their appointments.

Thank you for your message. I am very pleased to hear that I have been elected the President of the West Asia division of IASP. I would like to thank you and the Board of Directors for confirming my election.I am honored by my appointment and look forward to working with you in the next two years. I will be communicating with you on a regular basis, to keep you apprised of our progress.I am confident that I can count on all of you to actively assist me in making this work for IASP.
